    We propose a Fourier-modified Janszky-Adam scheme for the efficient nonadiabatic generation of squeezed photons in a harmonic oscillator with a time-dependent frequency. The higher-order Fourier components of frequency modulations introduce steep frequency changes in the time required for nonadiabatic quantum processes. The proposed Fourier scheme significantly improves the degree of squeezing compared with conventional sinusoidal frequency modulations. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.
