英語の形容詞・派生名詞と後続句に関する記述的・理論的研究

英語の形容詞・派生名詞の構造・意味は一定の分析がされてきているものの、それらの記述は質量ともに限定的である。形容詞 slow と派生名詞 slowness がその一例であり、先行研究の記述とは異なる統語的ふるまいや意味的違いが実際には見られる。このことから、様々な形容詞・派生名詞の記述と複眼的観点からの精緻な分析が必要であると考えられる。本研究の目的は二つある。一つは、大規模電子コーパスやインフォーマントの協力により形容詞・派生名詞に関する基礎的データを構築することである。もう一つは、形容詞・派生名詞とそれらに後続する句との構造的・意味的関係を明らかにすることである。以上により、形容詞・派生名詞に関する記述の更新・補完が可能になる。また、形容詞・派生名詞に関する構造・意味を分析する。これにより、英語学に記述的・理論的に寄与することができる。
